Just trying to point out, your theory applies to pit vipers. And to your defense, been in the woods my hole life, and never saw a black on yellow your a dead fellow.

True about the eyes of the coral snake, but I've never seen one and would guess most here have not either.

    I would disagree.

I shoot a 16 ga. dove hunting and in the timber duck hunting. $15-18/box is normal. Glad I don't shoot a .28 ga

If we get rid of all the snakes the rats will take over.

An AR would probably be better. More fun for sure.

My brother used to own a place with the snakiest pond I've ever seen. Every time you went down there to fish, it was a good idea to take a stick and beat the brush to scare off the snakes. He always carried a 38 revolver loaded with snake shot. I loaded the shells for him and he would go thru a couple of boxes ( about 100 rounds ) every year. I know he used a shotgun sometimes, so he killed a pile of snakes around that pond.

Not much to add here other than identifying venomous snakes in La. should never come down to the yes. I know them when I see them immediately. And here's a La. Milk I caught at Ft. Buhlow rec area in Pineville,

I carry a J frame 38 loaded with CCI snake shot when at the camp and Speer Gold dots for two legged snakes at all other places.

If I lived in, or fished in, an area that was full of venomous snakes ... and it was legal to carry a firearm on that land or body of water ... I'd probably opt for a Taurus Judge. Open carry is legal in KY, so I'd have it in a holster ... easy to get to & not cumbersome to carry around.

CrappiePappy, that is my choice. I can tell you they work excellent on snakes and my number one yard enemy, Moles!
