Squiggyfreud. If you are in Lafayette I can go show you how to do it one afternoon. Only takes about 20 min.

Very kind offer indeed! I plan to jack up the trailer tonight, and check for noise, and check for any play on the axle, I may go ahead and disassemble the hub and find a replacement kit tomorrow. If I don't need it I can have it as a spare.
I currently do not have a good grease gun, jack stand, or a bearing packer, but plan to add that to my arsenal ASAP.
I have watched a few videos, and it looks messy, but not difficult.
The downside is I wont be pulling the boat to Bayou Amy to meet you all on Saturday.
it is a good practice to recheck after work is done after a couple of road trips. I have had Races move when cornering. That slack will tear up the new bearings and seals
I've had the bearings go out without warning , so since then I change them once a year whether I think they need it or not , especially if you travel any to fish .
tool marks in the bore can make it bind and stop just like it is seated. I always use an old bearing to push in the new race and not damage the bearing surface. in a perfect world rechecking would never be needed
I have a extra hub on stand by Incase one goes out

This is just me talking, but I prefer to go to Mike Gerald's in Baton Rouge & just buy two brand new complete hubs (bearings & all) & replace them every other year just for personal peace of mind. I still have to pump a little grease into the spindle allemites to start off. Prices are reasonable.
