Default West Ky outdoor show from years ago

In another thread labled "Kentucky Lake-White Bass" I posted a reply about "rooster tailin" for white bass around Egner's Ferry bridge...

Here is the Quote I posted:: "Any of you guys ever tried "rooster tailin" for white bass around egner's ferry bridge?

I haven't tried it yet this year but sometimes it works in any part of the day. June , July, or August....

Using the TM to stay really close to the pilings under the bridge.... drop the rooster tail straight down to the bottom as close to the piling as possible...

As soon as it hits bottom reel it straight up beside the piling as fast as possible...

Keep moving from piling to piling because they seem to be moving that way also....

Also, try upstream from the piling, beside the piling, downstream from the piling....You never know where they'll be....

When you get hit by a white bass fishin this way...he'll try to take the pole away from you...

Sometimes when the sun is high you can actually see the fish holding in the shade of the horizontal concrete support right under the surface and "buzz" the rooster tail right by their nose....

I've found that they will hit just about any size but a larger rooster tail will get to the bottom quicker allowing you to get more casts per minute....if you can call that presentation a "cast"... "

I saw this technique on a local West Ky. outdoor show from many, many years ago...the host was guy from Hardin, KY, I think...

Does anyone remember the name of the show or the host?

Vaguely remember Wade Bourne doing a show on Whites on the lakes like back in the mid-80s but can't remember if it was roostertails or slab spoons. It was one of the techniques we were using though only in a different location!! Might have just been an article though. Mind is kinda fuzzy that far back.

Yep remember that name too. Seems like he had a show on about that time.

Had one of he crews "move in" on us once when we were on the 'X' and landing a fish about every cast. They were doing squat so they started inching in. They go the hint when i bounced a 3/4 oz slab spoon off the front of their boat:D After that they backed off some and started casting in to the area we were. After a couple tangles between us and them only to have their lures end up in our boat. They left and moved down a few hundred yards and started catching a few. Made me believe they didn't know squat about the area and figured because they were "filming" they could bully folks outa their spots.

When we left we saw them fire up and head to where we were fishing.

Talking I know Ron Shearer ....

Ron's show was : THE GREAT AMERICAN OUTDOORS WITH RON SHEARER.

I fished the KY ABF (American Bass Fisherman) circuit, back in the early 70's ... and Ron was a member. His show came years later. I don't know where he was born, but I remember him as living in Nicholasville, back then.
Can't say as I've ever seen any TV angler show, that showed anyone doing this type of fishing, though.

    ... cp

I saw the "West Ky. Outdoors" This lat Sat. The host was Ron Lappin.
Trump is like the guy that comes on the playground and beats up on the guys that's been pushing you around for the last 30 or 40 years.

    Jerry Snowden.

He had a local access cable show, was a radio dj and last worked at KY Lake Outdoor World until he passed away from a sudden heart attack a couple of years ago.

At least I figure that's who you may be talking about. I saw the white bass show that he did and he was using the same technique.
