    Default Laurel River Lake......

Pretty crowded this time of year. It's one of the better smallmouth fisheries in KY (owns the state record). You might get into one or two if you get up real early. Not much of a crappie or bluegill lake, and a lot of folks fish for trout at night under lights. It is a nice play lake.

    Default Laural Lake info

I have fished Laurel Lake since was first inpounded. It used to be a great rainbow trout fisherie. You could get your limit in a couple of hours easy. Not so much now I dont think the state puts half as many as they used to.
Laurel Lake has several smallmouth bass,a few largemouth, not meny crappie, a few bluegill and an occasional catfish. Walleye fishing should be picking up any time.

There are two corp of engineer campgrounds on the lake. Grove and Holly Bay. Hollybay is my favorite. It is one of the most used campground in the state. Both places have really good ramps.

I would be glad to answer any questions. Weekends are very very crowded
You can fish monday through friday without much trouble

What are you going to be fishing for? I heard yesterday walleye should be biting anytime around the dam. Friend said he fished in about 100 ft of water about 30 ft down. Trolling around 1 mph. Most bass fishers go to the river part. If you dont know where the river part is at, from Holly Bay go right past the dam than go past Grove marina on around past the boat in campgrounds past flatwoods boat ramp . go straight up the lake past hightop
boat ramp and the lake narrows into the river part. another place to try is Spruce creek which is on the right between boat-in campground and hightop boatramp. If you go to the back of spruce creek it divides into three fingers. I have caught some good catfish in that area. If you have kids who like to catch bluegill then Laurel is the place to go.
You can catch large numbers but not much size. We use waxworms and cricketts.
You probably will have to find a creek due to the pleasure boaters.
    Hope this helps
