cant add any real personal experience here, but if i had to guess, im guessing the small rubber stops, that come on the wire would work the best. Im guessing casting would be ok, but reeling it in would result in it catching the face of the reel.
Best bet would be to convert to a spining reel(although its not always fool proof with bobber stops either), you'll gain alot of ground by switching reels, for the bobber stops and more.

I never let the stop go into the reel whether it's open or closed.I mainly used them for
bream fishing and never fish deeper than the rod length.I like to use an open face on a
fly rod then if I want to fish on bottom in shallow ponds or I can or fish shallow.Thill
makes a new bobber that has a stop included but supposedly let's you fish deep don't know the details?

    Jahenn,
We use the 33's and found out years ago that the only Bobber Stop is the Touchdown Lures 4 hole Slip-N-Lock for the 33's

They are a wholesale business but if you don't have a dealer close to you he will probably sell to you if you buy several. When I buy I buy 25 packs at a time.
Each package has 4 stops in it.
They work and you can take that to the bank.

    Default Thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone for all your advice! I'll try the Columbus, Indiana guy cause even the 3 overhand knots I tied on w/ 4 lb. test line got stuck in my reel. Maybe I just need to resign myself to using an open-face reel.

I have never had any success using light line on the 33's. Always go back to the original line that comes on the 33's which is 10#. I don't think those stops will work with 4#.
Just my opinion. And I find out the older I get the dumber I am. lol
    Good luck
    Bob
