We were on a known dink lake that is trolling motor only. Most were 5-8", with a couple 9" & 10"'s mixed in. I did manage to catch one nice 13" fish that weighed almost a pound.

Went to Geist today and it was embarrassing. Only managed a few crappie.
could of limited out on stripers if there's a limit but I'm strictly a
crappie guy. I fished all over... Shallow deep various depths minnows jigs. now I'm frustrated. that's twice I have been and not much to show for it. yes I'm glad I got out but we all know how much better it is when your carching...
    any advice???

Hang tight for a few days or a week. I think we are right at the end of the "Dog days of summer". I fished central Indiana all last week and found 70+ degree water in all 4 different lakes. All lakes we fished, showed a thermocline still in place and very few schools of crappie getting organized. This water will start to cool and the fish will begin to bunch up and begin to feed better in the more normal spots.
Doug - got hooked on LUND!

I'm just a firm believer that you can go out and catch crappie anytime. And yes I was reading 68deg water temps. I just get frustrated. I know here in a few weeks the bite will turn on but I'm a avid crappie fishermen bc that's just what I do. I don't hunt or really do much of anything but fish for crappie... I have been to Geist last two Saturday's in a row with little success. I haven't established a pattern bc I have caught them everywhere. like two or three in deep water two or three off a break and point and a few off some brush. Only thing I can catch at Geist consistently right now are stripers blue gill and perch... All of them not what I'm after....
doesnt help any when I just got my first spider rigging setup finished bought a new set of psts and a helix9 two weeks ago and have yet to have a good day since 😂😬

I 100% agree!! Some outings are better than others, but you can always catch crappie. I did not get out thus weekend, but I was on two different lakes last weekend and I did not see a thermocline on either. The tough days make you a better fisherman. The easy fishing will be coming back up again soon, so hang in there.

I'm in the same boat! Lol. New setup and depth finder and can't catch more than 4 dinks. Went today caught dinks in 15' of water and some bass! Disappointed to say the least, heading out in the morning to try again.

I haven't been catching them like I should be but reports I have seen on this site and others say fish in 4 to 10 fow. I have been out fishing when I can usually in less than favorable conditions... I know here in the next week or two im going to figure out there pattern and start slamming them again

Well I went back there Saturday with same results. Still caught a few but not what I was hoping for. Has anyone had any success at Geist lately?
