Got checked twice last year at two different bodies of water. Damn glad I had the stickers. And yes, I agree we need some damn trashcans...

I was just replying to blame Mitch for everything that has happened when we have aquired several new properties since he has been our Gov. Surely you do not expect the whole campground to be open when there is hardly anyone using them this time of year. Really liked the campground at Hindostan falls but as you posted about Williams Dam it was probably vandalized on a regular basis.

Last season, my wife and I took our boat to Salamonie because we'd never fished it. We saw a sign at the ramp that said that you had to have a permit to launch the boat. I was like WTF???? I thought to myself.... I bought a license for my boat, trailer, and licenses for both me and my wife to fish and now I have to buy ANOTHER permit???? We turned around and left.

Don't feel so bad about the trash cans guys, They took out the ones at Taylorsville Lake in KY, why??? They got tired of cleaning up around them. Even though KY is big on BasketBall seems no one could hit the bucket.
smiles are contagious, spread them around

readearhoosier, I hear and agree 100% with you. I would not mind if my tax money went toward trash cans, the alternative is that area will turn into a dump! Maybe Mitch needs to hear from the fishing groups in this state.

Why in the world wouldn't you want a trash can at the lake? Your argument reaks of a political agenda, a very right wing one at that.

Here we go again. Someone expects you to clean up after yourself and you brand them a right winger. Where were all the complaints when Bayh cut the dnr workers pay 1/2 hour a day? Where were all the whiners when his followers quit mowing the ramps and removed all the trash cans? At that time I was working at the DNR and the only ones picking up trash was the Forestry. Right Winger? I'll take that over someone that can't even pick up after themselves. I'm done!

The problem raporter, when cuts like this happen, nobody knows about it! The stuff I read here about Bayh's cuts is news to me. Maybe we should all talk to anyone that will listen and all of us email the DNR--- April 1st would be a good day.

I know the economic impact of the economy on the State is super hit hard. I work the Indy Boat and Sport Show,,we used to have 19 States represented at the show in the Coliseum..after 2008,,now there are none..If you see Indiana in a booth there its a private agency that is marketing for them..DNR was represented..and only because they could make money selling licenses, various permits, etc,,so it benifits them,,and alot of small shop owners that make 50 cents a license resents the state making the buck before them..but now you have the internet,,also doing the sales for the State as well,,so its all the same pot..I hate it when I spent,,about 30 minutes driving in a State Park Sunday, just to find my GF a bathroom as we checked about 15 that had Closed for the Season on them, before we find one. Same at Monroe the weekend before this one,,one here,,one there open..all the rest closed. cutbacks is what is keeping them going, and whether we like it or not..until the economy gets better,,,its going to be this way..I know everybody wants a trash can,,well,,,its going to cost alot more than 20 bucks for a launch permit if you really really want them,,get enough people together,,and you might just get what you want..but paying for it,,now that will be another issue, won't it?

cevans, maybe there would be money in the till if the politicians would keep their hands out of it! As Bayh did by using the money for his pet projects. ANY money collected by the DNR or from the sale of any hunting, fishing, licenses or camping items including sales taxes for said items should be used by the DNR for the upkeep of the state properties, salaries and property purchases and nothing else. Maybe our elected officials should be reminded again...
