    Default "Lake permit" boat stickers

I just got my 2011 boat launch/ lake permit decals for my boat and canoe. Though I always feel like I'm the only sucker in the state that buys them as I never see the CO's enforce it even when clearly stated at all launches they are required. I bet I saw a dozen canoes and kiaks last year at the 1812 area on Missy with none and the Co's never even checked them out. Same on the Missy lake, no stickers and no co's looking; I got checked for life jackets and such and as the turned away I said "hey, don't you want to see my lake permit decal ?", replied " nah, that's okay" What's the point ? But I bet the first time I go out with out it I get fined  What is the fine ? Has anyone else noticted this pattern in your area ? Are rules and laws just for us "dumb" guys who are "stupid " enough to buy permits and such ? Your thoughts ?

no they are also for out of staters, if I got caught without a launch sticker they'd have my boat, fishing gear and the lower portion of my anatomy . However last spring at Monroe they were checking for permits at a Bass tournament at Cutright.
Another thing is in KY we don't need a tag on the trailer, but cross the bridge and see how long it takes before you get pulled over. If you have all your paper work in order they don't do any more that tell you to get a tag next time.

The State Parks and Reservoirs are the ones charging the lake permit fee's. If you notice all the ramps on the rivers are free and that property is leased by the DNR and the DNR pays to put the ramps on the rivers and yet they are free.
Then you have the Parks and Reservoirs who charge for everything. I would really like to see where the lake permit money goes? They have to raise a couple million dollars a year just off of lake permits in this state. And they don't even have a trash can at the ramps so we can help keep the property clean...Huh! I guess we are suckers!

i wonder how many dont fish these waters because of the stickers and fees on everything.

i buy one every year never know where the money goes but i know it s cheaper than the inevitable fine . mitch took the trash cans out he thought it was to expensive to pick up. so just pack it out and save state some money ,they need it to pay for politicians retirement fund

I have never owned a boat before now, always rented them. What are you guys talking about? I thought you just had to pay a launch fee (some places) and that was it? I know the boat & trailer need to be registered and all that, and I just put my 2011 reg stickers on my boat....I need something else to go to Monroe or Patoka?

Here's what you need and where to go online to get it.
    2011 Motorized Lake Permit
Always a good idea to be legal. With the cost of gas these days, it's less to pay for a permit and fish the good reservoirs close to home then to drive several hours just to save the cost of a $20 permit.

Well, the reservoir close to me isnt state owned. The city rents it...lol. Even if I buy the sticker, I still have to pay a launch fee every time, or buy a year from them for like $50. I was just wondered if I HAVE to have that sticker to be in the water or does it only apply to some waters?

I fish Hardy and believe me, they enforce these laws/lake permits. I was checked five times in a two month time frame...checked twice in three days on Hardy by the same CO! Of course they also checked the livewell, lifejackets, registration, drivers license etc. Hardy's the worse lake around my neck of the woods for these shakedowns.

My beef with the whole situation at Hardy is that they let the pleasure boaters off the hook. I've seen boats tied up together in a six boat platoon, drinking, playing LOUD music, and the CO's don't even bother stopping them. It's the fisherman in the little ole jon boats that they target, it's frustrating to me. My advice is just have everything in order, those guys can ruin a wonderful day on the lake real quick if you don't have your boat in legal order.

A couple of the smaller lakes I fish don't even have trash cans at the ramps, and they're manned by the DNR. I've had this discussion many times with my wife, dad and uncle when leaving the lake and nowhere to throw our trash. It makes you want to put your garbage right in the middle of the friggin ramp for them to clean up.

Just got mine yesterday. I guess its like a fishing license for your boat :D

You dont have to buy one but if you get caught it will cost ya more and the goverment needs some more money to wasteDoh They do have more co's to keep people honest so i guess if your not doin anything wrong then you don't have to worry rite?
