Jimmydee......good thread. I do not fish that lake. Evergreen/Bloomington/lake story/Lou Yeager plus Mississippi/Illinois River. I am also amazed on the lack of info. You would think some have called public water there private ponds.
I have two HD-12's on my boat.....game over. Come fish we me anytime

Appreciate the invite plateboater. Just found that my 50 minute drive to Kincade is now more than 2 hours with Hwy 3 closed between here and there. I've got two 5 acre farm ponds/lakes around home I can fish. I figure if they're on at Kincade or elsewhere, they'll prob. be on at these smaller bodies of water. I too, am confused by the apparent entitlement of 'ownership' of stake beds, and lack of helpful information. I don't understand it at all. If I can help a fellow fisherman/woman have a great day catching crappie I'll go out of my way. If you ever decide to take a trip to Mississippi to Sardis, Enid or Granada for some REAL slabs, holler. I'll be gald to put you on some spots that are usually hot for me, OR..... go to the Mississippi blog....those guys will tell you more than they know.lol Very helpful about helping folks fish their lakes. Must be that Southern Hospitality thing, I guess.

Man, y'all are making it sound like everybody on this forum are bad people! For me, I simply don't know a thing about kinkaid, which is why I didn't chime in. That doesn't mean I don't want to help! If somone asks me about shelbyville, I always help them. I believe that there isn't a great population of people on this forum that fish kinkaid right now which might be a reason for the lake of replies. On another note, this spring has been incredibally tough for some, so when we find fish some might not want to tell the only thing they have found that produces fish for them this year! For me, I'll tell people what I'm doing, what to target, and what I'm using. But it's up to them to find the fish. As for Mississippi, yes those folk are really helpful, but we aren't fishing brush piles there. They will tell you a landing to use and from there look for the boats! I'm just sayin in my eyes it looks like just because someone didn't chime in in less than a day for kinkaid you believe that everyone is horrible on this forum, which isn't the case. Sometimes it's going out and putting in the hard work to find the fish yourself that often makes the trip the most rewarding!

If you need that much help, hire a guide. Well said birdman!!!! Looking for fish is the fun part.

Hiring s guide for a lake you have never fished is the way to go if you want to get up to speed on a lake.
I have hired a guide on Kincaid and on rend.
Kincaid we more or less got skunked.... So even guides get puzzled on " there lake "
But I'm more there to ask questions on the lake.
On Rend I learned how to fish bushes and we slaughtered them.
I don't hire a guide on these lakes anymore, I apply what I have learned from them to the lake I'm on.
Don't let a guide sit you under bridge all day just because they are biting there.
Have him show you the lake and talk about different ways to fish it.
Don't be afraid to take notes.
    And than have fun!

I have hired 5 guides in the last year trying to shorten my learning curve. A couple of them more than once. I have got the limit one time out with guides and he took me under a bridge. That was tough! I have gotten the limit by myself several times under the bridges last fall. Not sure a guide is really much of an answer but it is a change of pace. Nothing takes the place of time on the water and if I could spend as many days as they do a year on the water it would be a big advantage. It is just like I learned from Bowhunting 40 plus years. Nothing takes the place of time in a tree stand! Dan

Jimmydee1, Route 3 was open from Chester to Ava yesterday if that's what your talking about. I'm going to Kinkaid this Friday to give it another shot, rain permitting. I'm feeling this post gave the lake some negative impact? It's a nice lake, beautiful, 30 minutes from my house and I've caught some dandy Crappie here but on the other hand it's my first year and what I classify as a good outing might not be up to par for some. I've never ran into any people who have said it's there stake bed, etc., but when I do I'll just go find another because this is probably all these people have going for them in life. I've just learned the little amount I know from trial and error and a few buddies who have fished it before. Even though I hate to read, I purchased a book by Al Nutty "Kinkaid the reel deal" and it has a ton of information in it for each species of fish. I'll keep sharing my successes on here and any other information to help others. Now I just need to figure out how to catch a muskie and walleye at Kinkaid and I'll be set.

Didn't mean to imply that anybody here was a bad person, at all. Just stating that there hadn't been any posts on Kincade for awhile, and nobody seemed to know much. I'll hunt and catch fish with anybody, but a little friendly help is always appreciated. I try to do the same when I can. No harm meant...seriously. I'm sure every crappie fisherman/woman is willing to help to one degree or another. Just saying that there didn't seem to be much help. Sorry if I offended anyone...not my intention at all.
