First year as a crappie fisherman here and of course first year on Kinkaid. It's been 2 weekends since I've been there, but caught a lot of smaller fish in the weeds jigging on the Ava end. Talked to many who fish there religiously and they say it's about to get good, to bad last weekend we had rain 80% of the time. I've had best luck with a black and chartreuse jig and it might sound crazy but added a crappie nibble to my hook and tore them up, which was the difference between catching them and not. Caught my bigger fish 1-3 lbers the first part of April on structure 10-15 feet deep near rock ledges. They were having a crappie tournament the last time I was out and everyone was using minnows in the weeds. That's my inexperienced report, I'm in the same boat as you jimmydee1, wondering why there isn't anymore posts about Kinkaid.

79, thanks. Just wonderin if the Johnson Arm of the lake has cleared up any...i doubt it. I was hoping they would still be in 2-5 fow and somewhere into the spawn around stumps and stickups. I guess I guy just needs to go and try several methods and hope you can find them. I'm not adverse to that at all, just lookin for a little help to jump start the process.

I'm sure the Johnson arm is still murky with all the rain we've gotten this last weekend, it's been par for the course in April and I'm sure nothing has changed. Hope it does soon. I've never tried the Paul Ice (North) end, how's it fish if you don't mind me asking? Jigging around stumps, weeds, etc. seem to work like the Johnson end? I've just stayed away from that end due to the high traffic.

Yeah, I don't know much about Kincade at all. I usually put in at the Marina and look for coves with stumps and take my chances. I like to slip cork with a jig and tip it with a monnow around stumps and brush piles, but that is when they are in 2-5 fow. Not sure where to look for them at Kincade this time of year. Now if you are talking Miss. that's a different story. That's my usual trip but this week end will have to be Friday only.

Id help you of I could but I've never fished this lake or even seen it. Illinois guys seem to be pretty tight lipped this spring.

I know how you feel! You ask some guys for a little direction and you'd think you ask them for GPS coordinates. Wish I could help but just learning myself. Dan

No prob. I can figure it out, just a little conversation by those who fish it would be helpful. Some folks act like the fish there belong to them. I really don't understand why folks don't offer more help....that's what the spirit of this Crappie.com site is all about....I thought. Folks helpin other folks. I hope I'm wrong about the lack of interest to help another fisherman, but that's the way this seems to be shakin out. Like I said..I hope I'm wrong. Plenty of fish for everyone....in state or OUT.

Yeah I agree! it amazes me the attitude of some. It has been a learning process for me the past 10 or 11 months. It changes as the season progress and then year to year variables come in to play as well. I fished Kinkaid last July & August some. I am always amazed when people call a stake bed or brush pile theirs. I guess it is just a way of wording it but anything on a public lake is just that Public, and most of these my things were put in illegal any way. It is the competition in outdoor sports that I don't like, whether it is Duck hunting, Deer hunting, Turkey hunting, or fishing. I guess it is that testosterone thing that most guys carry around. Mine is Bigger than Yours!!! LOL!! I have had a few guys that have helped me out but honestly it is few & far between. Dan
