I put one on my old boat, and if i can do it anyone can. I think mine was the keel shield and not the keel guard. Maybe a little thinner but was on for 10 years.

I checked KeelShield website FAQ's for installation on aluminum boats and there are some precautions (which negate installation on my boat). Also trailers with keel rollers have limitations (also excludes my being able to use).

    From Keelshield website:

Will the KeelShield keel protector work on aluminum boats ?

KeelShield will not work on some aluminum boats. Some Alumacraft , G3 Angler, Lowes and Lunds. KeelShield will not conform to boats with the knife like reinforced keelbone. Please contact us for more info on these brands of boats.

If my trailer has a bunk or roller that KeelShield will rest on, will it work ?

It will work as long as the KeelShield (after it is installed) Does Not rest on the bunks or any weight bearing rollers. The KeelShield Can Not come in contact or rest on bunks or weight bearing rollers even when unloading the boat from the trailer. If the roller or bunk is further down and your KeelShield doesn't rest on it when you are trailered, you still need to be sure that when you launch that you try to float the boat off of your trailer so your KeelShield does not get caught on it.

Keel Gaurd's website made no specific references to aluminum boat applications (that I could find) and the Hamby's site stated product is a factory only installation.

I have plans to install one on my Xpress H18-PFC over the holiday break. Plans are to get the gargage good and warm to help the rubber become more pilable. I will report back the results.
