i really havent had nothing like this happen....had a jig head come out a snag and hit me in the chest and it stung pretty good...but....i was out at the lake one day and seen a guy fishing with a 12ft rod and fishing 14ft with a fixed cork...he went to cast out and really put some ump on it and next thing i know he is screaming and about in tears(45 year old man)....when he went to cast with that much line out he hooked his self right in the azz....it was way pass the barb and he drove his self to the ER and all and all it ended up costing him $700.....now he fishes with a slip cork

LOL! What a spot to get hooked. I never understood why people don't use slip corks. It's just so much easier.

I was bemused by some of the things I've read in this post. But the reality of it is that a lead weigh can become a lethal projectile if it attains enough velocity. It happened to someone fishing a rock jetty on the East Coast if I remember rightly. He hung the rocks and pulled until it came loose or broke and it came at him at who knows what speed and hit him right in the forehead, entered his brain and did him in. So think about all these things next time you get hung. A little fore thought might save a lot of grief.

Fishing on Kentucky Lake a few years ago I had a bass strike at my crankbait right
in front of the boat, when I tried to set down on him the crankbait hit me in the knee
and buried one hook in way past the barb. After cutting my jeans out of the way to
see how bad it was my cousin who was fishing with me snatched it back out with a pair
of visegrips. I am glad to say the thought of yanking the hook out like that was a lot
    worse than doing it.

Me and a fishin buddy went to Shelbyville bass fishing a few years back. We were casting crankbaits both on the front of his Ranger when he rared back to cast and sunk his crankbait into the back of my head. My first reaction was to grab and pull which of course I did, which of course was the wrong thing to do. After getting the needle nose out and a couple good quick jerks we were back to fishing. I'm just glad it was the back of my head and not my face!

One day while bass fishing from the bank I hung up my texas rigged worm with a 1/4 oz. bullet sinker.I wrapped the line around my hand and held the rod low, below the waist cuz I didn't want that sinker to come back and hit me in the face. Now I know how the bullet weight got it's name. When it came free I didn't have time to blink even though I seen it coming. It hit me on the inside of my right thigh missing a vital organ by about an inch. Got a nice bruise but could have been much worse.

Several years back I was bass fishing with a rapala that had 3 treble hooks and of course I got hung up on a stump about 35 feet away.I started backing up slowly, pulling and stretching the line to get it loose.I was facing it head on when it came loose and had just enough time to turn my head to the side when it hit me right in the face. The tail hook stuck me in the eye lid,the middle hook stuck in the cheek, and the front hook caught me in the corner of the mouth.I guess you could say I caught myself ! No one was around to help so I decided to try and unhook myself. As luck would have it none of the hooks had gone in very deep. Carefully lifted the one out of my eyelid, then the cheek, then the corner of the mouth. Bled a bit, thanked GOD, then went back to fishin.

Had a buddy running through some tall grass and buried 2 barbs of a trebble hook in his calf, took him to breese hospital and i swear to god right there in the emergency room, the doc took out a pair of rusty pliers gave him a shot and pulled them through. Maybe he knew we were drunk, by the way that pole had 17lb test and snapped it like it wasn't there, looked nasty.
