Something not right on them lakes. The feeder creeks and canals have nice dark tannin stained clear water, the lakes look like pea soup? Even the canal CG1 lives on, about a hundred yards or so from the lake it turns clear black tannin stained, much nicer than the lakes. Noticed the same fishing Griffin last time, and the fish we did catch were in the canals.

Of Coarse we could have another case of cross mangement FWS & Army Corp of Engineers ? One trying to promote
fishery and other trying to kill it.......

Griffin! Lol
Check with Litewire. I suspect he would suggest tying on 50 jigs on one line!

You could just drag a Sabiki rig used for catching bait in salt water mostly. Bluegill would grab lots of those too and keep you busy. I do believe you have the right understanding of what it would be though, a pita. 2 is my limit and not all the time.

They are out there "surveying" the heck out of the fishermen on Griffin all the time. And when they do survey me, I tell them they need to do something, like stock the lake to help the population. The thing is, I see tons more bait balls on other lakes. I see very few on Griffin. No bait = no food = no fat Crappie = poorer spawns I suppose. The fish I see caught on every other lake here in Florida are nice and fat. Griffin are all on a diet. They are anemic. I think it's more a GATOR/GAR HOLE! Always see lots of those. I thought it was on a come back. Last year was the best year I've seen since I've been here, but this year is turning out to be the worst I've seen.

    Hey Ed,
Check out the video I made of my buddy catching Oscars in the Everglades last week. You need to take a trip down and do this if you have not already. It is a blast. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/south...2-ounces-fury/

Very cool SR. Got to try that. Thanks for sharing. I think I had an Oscar in one of my aquariums at some point. I've always been an aquarium guy, had tons of different kinds of Cichlids over the years.

Also, I found this on the Internet about them: Oscars are considered to be the most intelligent aquarium fish available to hobbyists. Oscars have an impeccable memory and are one of the few aquarium pets that can be trained to do tricks.
