Ya,the the surface clutter is just a settings thing.the 2d seems to work well.i agree with you about the si.i was able to get rid of the washboard affect, but I'm still not satisfied with the si.

Deil11,I used switchfire on, and surface clutter set to 1.not sure what the sensitivity is set to on those pictures, but the di is nice to compare with the 2d to get the 2d set.then I can switch to the full 2d mold.

Fishfood, the onix is a whole lot easier to see in the sunlight compared to my 998hd unit.now as far as the smudge marks go, I can see them and I wipe them off every so often.they look real bad when I set the unit to standby and go back to the console area and look back to the front of the boat . I'll add this to fishfood,if I get something on my hand(such as fish formula, when I swipe or pinch it leaves a pretty nasty smudge)

Nothin but fish (Bill) posted over on that OTHER forum that they WERE going to figure out why Deil11 is having all the problems he is having.
Bob,I played a little bit with the scroll back features. It appears that it works on all soar views.just highlight the screen with the cursor, then either drag the screen or use the joy stick.you can mark waypionts using this feature also.something interesting about this is,if your using a three pane window 2d,si,di....and you view history in one pane, the other two continue on updating.(kindof kool I think)

Yeah, the smudge thing is what makes me skeptical about a touch unit......but the buttons are there for backup.

How easy is it to operate the unit with just the buttons?

I went out early this morning,it was pretty chilly ,so I wore my jersey gloves and operated the unit, using only the joystick and wheel with no problems. Actually, I'm thinking of just using the wheel and joystick later on.

Update on the onix. I've been telling yeall That there a few glitches in the onix ,so l thought I would share my findings.ok first thing is I think the onix boots to slow.after it boots it gos to a navionics warning screen,at the bottom theres a continue button.this button won't work until about 15 to 20 seconds.(no big deal, but is annoying).if im using a three pane window, with one being 2d,twice the wrong sonar menu has appeared at the top of the screen after I inlarged the 2d pane.(just minimize then inlarge and its ok)......no matter which 2d frequency the unit is set to before shut down ,after reboot its back to 200khz(at the top of the screen it shows the frequency. Just touch it and there a drop down menu thats easy to change back to what I want).....the bottom fill only works with the 200khz(thats no big deal either.i don't need that)......in the favorites view.all views that are not used,in my case radar, neama gauges,3d maps.....they need to be deleted because they just make problems.(still no big deal you can always add them if you add the accessories later. One more thing,in the upper right corner of the screen, theres a drop down menu with standby, turn sonar pinging off and power unit off.for some reason the touch screen doesn't work on this drop down menu.i have to use the joy stick.(still no big deal, but does need to be fixed).thats about all I can think of for now but I probably will find some more.(its a good unit and I do like it)....just thought of another glitch,in the si/di mold, the unit will only display the 455 lable even while im viewing 800.still shows 455
