Thread: Minn Kota i Pilot questions and answers

I put mine to preliminary test today.:D

Terrova model..... super simple install....
4 screws and one plug.....
It took longer to get the pilot out of the adult proof plastic than to install it.:rolleyes::D

1) Tried out the auto-pilot function
same as the original auto-pilot maintains heading you set at the prop rotation you set
no problems:D

2) Tried out the Cruise Control with the auto-pilot.
lets you maintain a heading you set AND the speed you set (adjust prop rotation faster/slower to adjust for wind/current changes)
FANTASTIC!:D

3)Tried the Spot Lock
it does work... with a few caviats

• best if you can start the lock while headed into the wind/current (TM rotation can bind transducer/TM cabling)
• even starting into the wind you need to keep an eye on the cables (stop the lock and goto it once you have spun the cables free)

I did not get a chance to test the path record/playback as I was also testing and setting the functions on a HB 798c SI also.

I will do more testing later this week.

Anyone put the I pilot on a V2 yet? Will the cordless foot pedal work with this setup? or will it just work with the I pilot remote?

Not 100% but pretty sure it only works with the remote included...Got mine Wednesday and fixing to put it on.:D:D

It looks like you are the first with the Ipolot install on a powerdrive.

Just got through installing the Ipilot and everything went pretty much just like the manual said. And yes the footpedal no longer works. I pulled my boat out of my shop and tried the motor and everything worked that I could try in the driveway... Will let you know how it does on the water in a few days. Think I'm really gone love it though...:D:D

With the PD-V2 with i-pilot, can the foot control be used when fishing in the timber? Is it just a simple matter of unplugging the I-pilot?

No... The only way to be able to use the foot control would be to uninstall the Ipilot and put the original head back on the trolling motor. Once you install the Ipilot you can only use the remote except on the Terrova(I think it is but not sure).

I have the Terrova w/ the i-Pilot....

It does maintain full function of the foot pedal
