Same here. It struggles to go through the rib bones. It's barely better than the Berkeley that I had.

Default What's the best electric filet knife

I keep hearing about the AA, but not which model. I know some used to older ones that had a blue or gray handle (can't remember the color or model), but they don't make those anymore. I've heard about the shark blades etc., but still no models. I had a cheapo Rapala that I used for years and cleaned a many a fish, and they still offer that one like the one above that's 12-120 volt. I have another one like it but again, it ain't all that. The two I have ( the Rapala, and the Piranha from Mr. Twister) will clean fish with a struggle. I need a GOOD knife with metal gears that doesn't get hot and stays relatively sharp. Model numbers please. Thx

Bill, this is the one you want. Sold by BP so you should be able to go through your warehouse supplier and get a good deal on it. I just used this for reference. Think they can be had for around 79.00 at BP and maybe through Walmart.

Thx Cray!!! I'll check that one out. The reviews say the trigger is bad about sticking. Have you had any trouble or heard of any? Did you invest in the Shark Blades and if so, which length?

Bill, WalMart has the best price on the AA Pro. $89.99 vs BP at $109. You do get a little bag with the one from BP. Shark Blades on e-bay. 8 inchers.
They are making the old style, gray handle, again. Find them on Amazon and e-bay.
Just checked. Got my shark blades from Amazon. $12.99 plus shipping. I ordered some extras so I got free shipping. You will love those 8" blades for crappie.

I used the blades that came with my american angler until I wore em out. Took a long while to do that. Then I bought the shark blades, and they are the quality!!!

    Have an American Angular Ultra...

bought extra blades for it off eBay for $5.00

Have a spare up in my closet that is the same but runs off of 12 volt (think its been there for 3 years and haven't used it)

only thing i clean with it are crappies, summer time i use a fillet knife to fillet channel cats

I remember buying it at walmart probably 6 or 7 years ago....they don't carry them anymore at our store but you can find them on eBay or possibly other stores.

blue handles on the blades work best for me...the ones i got off eBay are yellow...they work but they are thicker and fish slime and whatnot gets hung up in them and you have to immerse the blades in water and run the knife to clean it up every once in a while (with the yellow). Blues are thinner bladed and don't have as much of a problem.
Sacred Heart of Mary, pray for us now, and at the hour of our death. AMEN
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary....for those who don't, no explanation is possible
For the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and the whole world
