Anybody have an update on ice conditions on the lake? I'm hoping this warm weather and warm rain melts it quick. How much ice is left?

Headed back out...took half day off...hoping to hook up with JAB.
Talked to Rusty...on Sunday THERE WAS 15 Inches On THE MAIN lake. 17 inches in the Marina...we need dome serious heat to bust that up.
Heavy rain on Saturday will certainly help.

Wow, That the most ice I've heard reports of all year! I know there was up to 14 inches of ice up at Kiser. There are other lakes in SW Ohio that have 3 inches or less on them now. Its crazy how these lakes freeze and thaw at such different rates! These warm sunny days and rain will hopefully get thing moving. Need to get the yak out on some flat water soon.

With as much water that is coming out of CJ...it may thaw and bust up quickly. You would think they would hold some of the water in with all the flooding going on in the Ohio River...and more heavy rain to come.

Got to bank fish with JAB today...that was actually our first time out together, and definitely the first white water bank fishing. I think he has a better understanding of my entire "process". He got to see minimalist fishing and "traveling light", and how "good braid" saves you time and money, while fishing from shore.lol
Hopefully he enjoyed the time out and learned alittle about what to look for....and I hope he took notes after watching me lose 2 nice fish in the cross currents, I kept pressure on them and the rod tip high, but the swirling forces in the heavy crossing currents allowed them to get enough slack and pop free....never have had that happen before...I would like to think these were smart fish who knew the water, BUT I JUST SCREWED UP, and needed to reel faster and keep solid pressure on them Oh well, can't catch them all!!!! Both hit the fade Chartreuse again.
Jeff stayed out, after I had to leave to fix supper for Dale, hopefully he did better and caught the 2 I missed.
Beautiful day, and alot of fun being out with one of the boys!
    Good Fishing!

I greatly enjoyed the afternoon, and certainly learned what NOT to take with me (NO anchor like tackle bag) … next time out I will be more ready for a ‘walk about’.

I have a small backpack that I often carry. Just enough room for the necessities, some water and food, and bug spray (just in case)

Fished with Jeff for an hour after work...Oh my gosh, what a transformation from a "Bassbeme" wannabe yesterday, with a 20 drawer suitcase and 5 poles, etc, etc,....to a svelte, Minimalistic, fast moving, Mountain Goat, bank fisherman (say that 5 times) ...he made me so proud that I almost cried....For a second, I saw myself in another 40 years!lol

As for fish, we tried, sun was out and no action anywhere....a couple boys are going out later, do we'll see how they do at dusk???

The lake is getting "lake colored" again and the ice is going fast....hopefully this weekend will do it!
    Good fishing!

Bank fishing is a bit simpler without lugging around a tackle box that could double as an anchor! Again I enjoyed the afternoon without catching a thing …
