With that being said I have the Legalis 1000 for panfish and the Sahara 2500 for bass. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but I prefer the Legalis. Feels smoother, less resistance when starting to reel, feels better in hand, and it looks a lot better in my opinion. Haven't had it for too long yet, but I'd recommend the Legalis for panfish.
The above posts are why this is such a good place for information....a cat from CA and FL guy, miles apart, chiming in on a question from a TX dude by sharing their observations of the equipment in question. Best type of reviews out there!

Finally got my Theta today and I have to say I am very pleased. No line on it yet but feels great and looks fantastic as well. At $240.56 shipped it was a good buy. Can’t wait to test it out.

Congrats! I got to really test mine out yesterday. I had an 14 inch KY Spot that was a toad. Reeling was effortless.

    Regards

    Question to everyone:

Do you think "Made in Japan" reels are superior to "Made in China" reels, everything else being equal? Both Daiwa and Shimano have their own QC people in Chinese factories. I personally handled Luvias FC LT2000S of both origins and could not find any differences. There are certainly other reasons to have preferences, but does it seem that the quality comes down to the brand and not the origins?

I have noticed zero difference in performance between my two Luvias 2020 models, one China, one japan made.

That being said, I’d prefer to have Japan models but that has nothing to do with the quality or performance.

Great little sale at Digitaka started late last night. Certate LT can be had for the lowest price I've ever seen on the web.

Two reels on the way... the MGX Theta and the Abu Superior. The Theta will go on the Eradicator and the Superior on the TCB. Should be here sometime this week!

There are some great folks in this sub-forum! It seems like for the most part folks are willing to share info and point others in the right direction. I was tipped off where I could find the Theta, which I greatly appreciated! I've been on some other forums (not-fishing) where members aren't as willing to share deal info or where to find things.

Congrats on the Exist! And what a copious amount of Varivas lines you got there!

Well first of all congrats on the 2 new Abu reels, TXP! And like you said this is also where I got info on JDM products and what they all about in term of their useage and quality...of course I was lurking around at the time. Other sites like Bassresource talks a bit about JDM gears but not much sharing. I heard names like Varivas, Geggabijin, or places like Digitaka and Plat get tossed around while here..so I joined. Come to think of it I don’t know whether to give you folks a warm “invisible” hugs or blame you for my ever shrinking wallet..lol. Tight line everyone!
