received the Theta ALX today. I slapped it on my Tict RF and fished for a few. Really nice casting, good line lay and the drag clicker is louder like Alphahawk mentioned of its more expensive brother. I notice little line jump with the ester I tried today. At 190 gr it’s not super light but it feels really solid and balanced. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase.

That line really glows on the reel. Great looking combination!

The new Shimano Vanford is available to look at on Digitaka, pre-order status indicated for now. The specs are interesting, 8 BB total and a weight of 150g for a 240ish price tag. 1000 size body with a 2000 size spool for extra line capacity and multi species purposed. Its the new Stradic Ci4 version from what I gathered from some Icast reviews. Take a look, not a bad looking reel with a long list of features.

I finally found some info on the JDM version of the Vanford. While it was a translation nightmare I was able to find out there is only 1 bearing in the line roller and it has no drag support bearing. Of course the stock Luvias has no drag support bearing either....but it does come with 2 line roller bearings. More than likely someone will come out with a bearing kit for the Vanford.

    Regards

Does anyone ever notice any difference in performance after adding bearings to spool support? I have quality reels with bearings and high quality bushings in spool support and I see no difference whatsoever in day-to-day performance under load.

I seriously doubt anyone could tell if a reel has a bushing or bearing for spool support by feel of the reel. However if we could accurately measure the resistance of a reel with spool support bushing or bearing we are always going to get less friction using a spool support bearing. Of course there are good and bad bushings and good and bad bearings. I would rather have a top notch bushing than a cheap bearing.

    Regards

Someone here mentioned acquiring Vanquish and first impressions. Any additional comments would be appreciated.
