If you look at the Tackle Warehouse site, it says the 1000 and 2000 new USDM 20 Luvias are the same weight. Im guessing this means that used the same frame size and a slightly smaller spool for 1000. Also this web site says this reel is made in Japan. Im not sure if that is a mistake or not.

I'm now gaining seat time with the Tenryu Rayz Alter 6'2" super ultra light area rod. This morning's efforts were off the charts good and I must credit this little rod with helping me pick up on the slightest nibble.

I caught 8 nice redear, numerous hand size bluegill and lost a 7-8 lb bass after a thirty-forty second drag peeling fight. This rod makes me a better fisherman, you get what you pay for is definitely at work in this case. What a gorgeous setup it is with the Ballistic reel.

Does anyone know if any of Tict rods are made in Japan? I'm finding some inconsistent information. Discussions in forums seem to suggest that some earlier releases were made in Japan.

I can tell you that from 2012 until now they are not made in Japan. Not sure they ever were. Outside of doing all the research I do I learned early on that if it is made in Japan the Japanese are very proud to say so and you will see that sticker on the rod.

That's what I read, too. Earlier Ice Cube models apparently had "made in Japan" stickers on them. Not anymore, I guess...

What other forums are you guys on? I've flipped through some Russian ones here and there, but the translation isn't the best.

Ловля на Спиннинг. | Русфишинг! Центральный Форум Рыбаков!

I'm fluent in Russian. I'm not on it, but I've read a lot (too much). There seems to be a lot of very knowledgable people there with lots of experience in high end JDM rods and reels. Funny thing, I wanted to ask a few questions and tried to register, but they asked for more information than IRS... Google Translate and even their own search engine is of little use because of jargon, lots and lots of jargon. Lots of video reviews in Russian on the web as well. By the way, happy to help if needed.

Ive used that forum...and others fur quite a while. As I have stated several times these rods are very popular in Russia.....UK.....really all of Europe and Australia. I tried to join a bream forum in Australia years ago but they denied my request. There are a lot of folks there who use a lot of the light game rods and I thought it would be great to have an English forum with lots of knowledge there. They didnt really say why I was denied but I think it was because we dont have that specie of bream here. All forums have rules but I thought it a bit much.

Indeed. I read about few recent fishing expos in Russia. Tict, Yamaga Blanks, Graphiteleader, Apia and some other Japanese rods makers are all represented regularly. As Alphahawk mentioned before, Tict had a serious of rods designed specifically for Russia. Graphiteleader seems to be in the same boat. Apia is reportedly in talks with a major Russian distributor on the same matter.

I browsed that bream forum a lot, too. Got me really excited about some surf fishing offerings from Yamaga Blanks...
