83 Friday afternoon about an hour before dark. I know surface temp fluctuates quickly but that seems hot to me.

Google earth is your friend. Before I had a boat I did good in the spring and early summer from the bank. Fall was a little different. I picked up a John boat when I was around 16yr old and fish small lakes into the summer and did great. If you look around you can find a John boat for under $500. I do good when it gets cold from the bank at Guntersville. I'm getting a BAss Raider 10 E soon. I'll be out there! I always use google earth to find spots, and then go to the navionics website to get an idea of how deep the area is. I've never been to the dam. I did look at the photos posted from others and it looks like heavy current.
