You are getting close to the last option-new. I'd be interested in how you checked the spark.
You should be able to tell if it's getting fair or better compression by the way it pulls.
Starting fluid under compression with the right spark, bang. One or more of those are not happening. I know you know that, but check em. Sounds like not enough spark to me. If it's the kind with the magnet on the flywheel, buff that off good.

I hate little bitty 2 cycle engines.

Crappie123, i pulled the spark arrester and tried without it but also cleaned the screen.

I'll check compression and see what I get. And pull the muffler. Think imma try that canned premix fuel too. After that, it's gonna hang in shop for parts.

Only way I knew to test spark was to pull plug, ground to motor and crank looking for spark. In this case, the pull asembly had to be removed to access plug and ground so I used an impact on the nit of the flywheel to turn at low speed and could see what appears to be plenty of spark to me.

Oh and when pulling rope feels like good compression. With pull assembly off, turning flywheel by hand was not easy. With plug out no problem. If it is compression, it must be low compression, not no compression. Which if it's low, it should still fire, just run poorly.

Trimmers are disposable. By cheapest one that will do the trick, and replace every year or two. Easy-peasy.

Found my problem to be an air lock on the bottom of carb, loosened the screws on carb enough for gas to dribble out, sort of like burping the carb and may have to do it the next time trying it too. good luck.--shu

If you hadn't taken that muffler off check that screen behind it . It gets stopped up and they will do that . Just throw that screen away . And I am even better looking than you .

I took a weedeater from the school trash pile at Water Valley several years back . The local small engine shop owner drilled a 3/4 inch hole through the muffler . Ran like a scalded ape for 4 more years .
