Fished the cut for a couple of hours in the torrential downpour. Not the best idea but still managed a pounder and one that i thought felt like 3~4 but when I brought the @#$!er up it turned out to be the fattest pikeminnow of all time. Not too happy about that one - first tube fish (outlaw firetail), thinking its gonna be a PB. What can ya do :D

    "--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

yea Ive thought about doing that but it sounds like kindofa pain to take em off after doing that. trying to run a sb through pads and reeds with a trailer on makes it hang up all the time so I dunno how good that would be."

I never take a trailer off...if I am spinnerbait fishing, it has a trailer, always.

do you rig the hook so its pointing the same way as the first one or opposite?

I rig it so the hook is riding the same way as the main hook. I don't have much trouble pulling through weeds, but of course, with an additional hook, you are more likely to pick up extra weeds on the hook...fewer lost fish though.

Hmm I'll have to get more trailer hooks and give that one a try (i've managed to lose all my trailer hooks... and quite a few SBs as well :P).

    thx

Went again last night to experiment with stuff - only plastics to pratice. Worked tubes and beavers, got my first beaver fish (small 1.5lber) and had some montrous hits on the tube but couldnt connect. Now i know what those "hits that almost rip the rod out of your hand" feel like. Really wish I could've hooked up with whatever slammed me like that though.

Anyone got some tips on fishing tubes? Hardware? patterns? I am NOT going to use exposed jigheads btw, they just hang up too often for me (unless you have some grand idea on how to avoid that).

    thx

i like to use 3" tubes with 1/8oz gamakatsu jig heads inserted inside. i just fish it like a grub. haven't got a tube fish this year....or beaver fish....going out after school today, hope it's calm so i can fish for smallies.
