Look at Shimano reels in the 500 size...and match your budget to the particular model (sedona should fall into the high end of your range).
I am debating whether to get a true "UL" reel or get a smaller spinning reel, maybe like a size 1000 or something? It wont be really expensive or anything, like 30/40 bucks, but just wanted to hear some thoughts on UL reels. (mated to a UL lightning rod).

i'd get a true ultra light, it will balance ou the rod better. i have a Pflueger Trion for my ultra light, right in your price range as well. i think i got the 4lb 115yrd size......

Yea I have the 4735GX model on my ML and I like it a lot for the price. looks beat up now after just a year but still as smooth as the day i took it out of the box!
What do you guys think of the cheaper Shimano line, like the Sidestab or the CX series? I'm feeling the price on those a bit more than the Sedona.
yeah, Pflueger's are really smooth (that's why i've got 4 of them ).
never used those Shimano's so......

Also consider Okumas. I have one and I think you would be happy with one (They should fot right into your budget)The CXs suck and the Sidestabs are marginal at best.
im gonna see if i can snag a ebay priced sedona but if not ill probably hit up another gx-7 again.
thx for the tips all
I saw some real nice reels at outdoor Emporium that I am thinking of putting on my UL rod for anout 35 bucks... By the way I am going to my 2nd interview there on wednesday......
