SH, yes The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald probably best known sung by Gordon Lightfoot.

Dayton I am fixin to walk out the door to go plant wheat next 3 days, I gotta have something to make the hemmoroid seat of that Farmall more tolerable
and have my head right to plant the fields straight.:D Also need to be uptight & outta sight for when my Kentucky Headhunters concert girlfriend comes over with her boyfriend for a fish fry tonight. I don't think he's gonna take kindly to it when I tell him she's mine (nor my ol lady) and I am realist enuf to know that there will be pain involved on my part from the ensuing fight and not saying from him or the ol lady. My main concern is the crack not blowing outta the pipe while Im bouncin around on the tractor.:p Gotta go.

Hope your not on an open tractor planting. That wind will wear you out man. How many acres of wheat are Ya'll planting? We had our seed and fertilizer spread with a Row Gator. That thing can spread 100 acres an hour. We wrapped up the seed with two field cultivators. Worked good. We have a good stand. We planted Pioneer and Coker. The Pioneer looks better but the Coker is coming along nicely. We planted 330 acres in two days. Fastest I have ever planted that many acres. CF

290 acres but it aint gonna happen in 2 days here. :p I lucked out 1st time in 4 yrs and not riding an open-air Farmall. I've spent plenty of time in that Case but not on wheat. He's planting soft red wheat, variety slips my mind.
Planting 150 lbs/acre. I only got 30 acres in but didn't actually get to plantin till 2:00 PM. Had to empty drill of rye seed and move combine, tractor & drill,
and 2 trucks, 1 with seed wheat and an empty to cut beans into. Bout a 5 mile move from the home place to the fields. Put the grain header on combine- had to remove the auger shroud and auger (lifts out) in the
combine hopper to get in the shed the header was in. Not bad six 1/2" bolts
and the shroud/spout comes off and auger lifts out. Lacked 5" clearance to get under the roof.
Once he latched on and backed out with it I started planting and he went
and started cutting soybeans-the 1st of them.

51 Dodge. Who on here has, or remembers trucks that you started by turning on the key, usually having to pull out the choke, and with the ball & toes of yur right foot on the gas you angled the heel of the same foot over and depressed the starter arm coming up thru the floor below & a little right of the gas pedal?

CF you know darn well what I'm talkin bout when I say after watching the same view pass after pass up and down the field, things can get a little scary in the cab.:D The solitude & repititon finally getcha and you snap for a second or two.

Jeff, went to google and entered Edmund Fitzgerald. I was surprised to see that the ship sank in 75 not 55. I would have never guess it was in 75. You can also go to a site and hear the song. It's been along time since that's been on the radio. Saw on TV a few years ago when in 95 they dove on the ship to see if they could find the reason she went down. It was then I think they brought up her bell and had a service over the spot and rang the bell for each crew member lost. They had family members there for the service. It is hard to believe I had been married 8 years when that happen.
