Need some help
I will be visiting my inlaws in Williamsburg and want to fish the Chick. I have fished from the bank in some areas and done well but think I will come with a friend and bring his boat. It will probably be early April. I have been on the water below Rockahock once and this may be the area I would like to fish. Any help is very much appreciated! Thanks for past post and help many have given in the past. I wish I had crappie fishing in my area as good as what you guys have!

Crappie will be spawning under the cypress trees. Find groups of them and try bobber and jig or bobber ang minnow. Also up any large or small creek. The longer the better. Down river a few miles is dyscund creek on the left. Spelling may not be right. You could spend all day in there. Long creek with channels and some docks. Start in the back and work your way out. Look on google maps for it. Good luck.

Thanks for the info fishead001. I have fished the creek behind the dam but got run out 2 years ago. Look forward to some warmer weather and to catch a few slabs for the frying pan! Also I assume there could be some docks on the main water way that could produce that time of year?

Most docks that time of year(april) could have crappie on them. But most will be in shallow water far from the main river. Not always though. Shallow pockets and flats or creeks should hold the slabs. Check diascund creek. Its on the main chick river. Not the part of the creek below the reservoir.
