That is a big crappie!
VDGIF report said a 22 inch crappie weighed at Beaverdam. Anybody on here get that monster ? Or see it ? Or heard anything about it ? My 3.6 was 18 inches and fat. A fat 22 had to be 4 or over. I once held a 20, 4+ pounder, was on the shock boat with biologist and wardens.

the longest 1 I could find was a world record it was19 inches.
I haven't added newer information but from 1963 through 2009, DGIF's crappie citation list includes 9 fish that were 4 lb. and over. None of these fish exceeded 20".
Our state record Crappie is 4lb 14oz @ 21.5" long & girth of 18" .... so I'd expect a 22" fish to be close to a 5lb fish (unless it was "poor")

We get a lot of 9" - 10" crappies up here. Biggest one our crew caught so far this year was 15-1/2 and it seemed like a monster , Con graduations to whoever caught it. New record ? I hope they get it checked out. I'm sure everyone would like to see a pic and hear the story ?
CORKER ,IF I CAN FIND A 4 LB CRICKET I MIGHT BREAK THAT RECORD, WOULD LOVE A PIC

Indeed it is, Corker ... but, it was not my intent to "compare" state records. I was just denoting the fact that a 21.5" long fish could weigh close to 5lbs, so a 22" fish should weigh as much or more.
It also appears that many sites denoting "record Va Crappie" are ignoring that 1967 Lake Conner fish, in favor of the 1994 "private pond" 4lb 10oz fish ... pursuant to the new State Record Rules of 1985.

I saw it on yesterday's Outdoor Report that VDGIF sends out. They said it was 22 inches and looked like a flounder. Caught at Beaverdam. I know a lot of the VA guys are from down that side of the state.
