They did a lot of paving on I-85 this year. I rode down from Petersburg to Kerr lake twice this year with a truck camper and boat in tow. Road seemed okay to me.
I am going to Richmond (Doswell) from NC. Anyone familar with 360 from South Boston to Richmond. Four Lane? Pot holes?
I-85 from the NC line is so bad, I am afraid to put my rig on that road again.

Last I was on 85 was mid Oct. Both north and southbound had been paved. There may be a few stretches that haven't been done. But I can't remember any spots that jarred my kidneys. If you take 380, it will be slower going, but you will avoid I-95 through Petersburg and Richmond.
I made a few trips to Kerr and Philpot in the spring this year. I dont remember 85 being bad.
I live 20 minutes south of Doswell now ... NO ISSUES - come on man - CLEAN n GREEN ALL THE WAY ...
EVERY WEEK - I run up n down 95 85 and 35 from Henrico .... 35 to Courtland - 95 to Roanoke Rapids- 85 to South Hill/ Kerr Dam...

Roads much improved. We made it in 4 hours! Several very rough spots; however, much better than last year. I-95 and I-85 had only a few bad areas. The surface under over passes on I-95 have had no repaving since the original concrete. I guess the engineers never allowed for an addition of 2-4 inches of asphalt in the future.
