Couple thoughts on that, first is forage base, if you're using something that is similar is size and action to what the fish are use to eating then they are more likely to bite. An example is crappie in Whitehurst, we fished there for many years using shiners. After checking stomach contents on a couple of fish we found mostly small mosquito fish, grass shrimp and scuds, we switched to small jigs and plastics either twister tails or tubes and starting catching bigger and more fish. The other thought is taken from bass fishing in that fish will strike at something just because they've never seen it something like what you're presenting and wonder what it tastes like. That raises the question do fish think or act purely on instinct?
To answer your original question, I think it was Bennet who said something about leaders and followers. My take on the whole thing is that a lot of good imformation is provived here and a person should take it and apply it to their own fishing. If that means I take your methods and locations from yesterday and use it tommorow so be it, at least post a thank you, but I'm allways be a day behind. As for not for posting exact lakes, rivers I've got no problem with that.

All lakes raise a foot when I step in the boat
If you tell folks what you are using and they see you catching a lot of fish . Then the cats out the bag if they fish the same place as you .

There is more to fishing than just knowing what lake and which bait, telling the lake is ok to me, but I dont post the bait on the open board for every one to see or the exact location on the water. Any member can send a PM and I'll help all I can when it comes to important info. Just my 2 cents worth.
Its all a puzzle. Most of the time, all You have to do is leave a piece out and catching will become fishing. I post most of my info from a trip (when I actually get to go) but leave a piece or two out and I never post a particular spot. The folks on here that contribute will get a full report via PM from me because they have more than likely helped me in the past and if they want to fish in my area and have never done so, I want to make sure they have a good day and will tell everything I know. I don't want to feed the lurkers and will leave some key pieces of the puzzle out.CF

Feel like I need to chime in.....Like others I look a lot but don't post much...mainly cuz I either don't get to fish or go and don't have the same success. Guess I suck at crappie fishing in general...but could start posting some striper posts if needed...lol Maybe its mostly cuz I fish striper more than anything else..but do appreciate those that post here and I am the type that wouldn't really follow someone to steal some spots....I like mostly hearing what part of the lake (like at kerr) and what depth...that helps me more than anything. Gonna take my boys fishing this weekend...upper part I guess....and from 6 to 15 foot.....but don't follow me anyone....you probably won't be too happy with your day...LOL
There is another fish that I want to start targeting as well. I would definitely learn from those posts. I will be heading to Elizabeth City Coast Guard Base this years Thanksgiving weekend and will be trying to catch one or two of those while there. Well, to be honest I have never fished down there and would be happy catching anything while there.
