    Default Spider rig rod holder

Hey guys. I'm looking into setting up my boat for spider rigging. Im at bass pro now, but of course they don't have the T bracket rod holders. Can someone point me in the direction of where to get one. I know someone on here makes them, but not sure who.

I can't say enough good things about the HiTek rodholders, too. T-bars mount & dismount in a couple of seconds and are very secure when in place. I've never seen anyone use them as a tie-down point to tow skiers or another boat, but it won't surprise me. Deck plates are flat & out of the way when your T-bars are dismounted. You can easily rotate the T-bars as well as each individual holder on the bar. This kind of flexibility is very helpful when you're running a lot of rods & the boat's swinging around in the wind. Last I checked, a set of HiTeks was cheaper than DMs. The only "downside" is you'll have to wait a few days for Scott to get your order to you--but hey, dealing directly with the owner of a company is a good thing. If you want to talk about tips for using your HiTeks, Scott can help you there, too. He's a crappie fisherman & he designed the HiTeks for his own use!

A while back I needed a couple of holders for a 3rd person once in a while. I gave Scott the measurements and he made them for me for a reasonable price. I've since modified them a little to work on 2 different boats including the one I have now.

Yep. I have a four rod hi-tek holder on the front and am planning on adding a second. Might eventually get one for the back too.

I had driftmasters on the back of my old boat and will probably get rid of those and replace with hi-teks.

Look at the Driftmasters at Bass Pro and then look at my website Extreme Fishing Concepts You will be surprised at the difference in price. We have free shipping for orders over $150. We are also a board sponsor. Buy what you want based on how you plan to fish and what you are fishing for.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and bought 4 of the 12' telescoping rods (it's all they had) and got stocked up on some jigs, going to shop tomorrow for some inexpensive reels. I'm leaning toward the Hitek's, but I need to figure out a few modifications to my boat first (ever get the feeling you wished you'd bought a bigger boat). I have a 14' Lowe Roughneck, all welded, rear & center bench seat and small casting platform up front, with a 15 HP Yamaha (should've got a 30). I don't really like the current set up, which is how it was when I bought it. I mostly use it for fishing, and I dig the spider rigging concept, however I've been most productive trolling (or long lining_. So... I'm thinking about making some extensive modifications, and turn this boat into a crappie fishing machine (that could also make an occasional duck hunting trip).

Here is my list (a lot of you have gone through this and I really do want you opinions)
    1. extending the casting deck aft by about 18". Which will make it more comfortable and allow room for (2) T-rod holders. I would like to use aluminum, but have no idea where to go in the Virginia Beach area to get it, also would like to weld it (beyond my skill level).
    2. I'm getting 2 new seats, Tempress Navistyle Hi-back (Mossy Oak Shadowgras). My old seats are Wal-Mart specials, and I feel like I'm going to fall backward everytime I lean back.
    3. I need a seat pedastal for the front, 11" ones work great on the bench seats, but not on the casting platform. I've not decided on a style (adjustable/fixed). I like the idea of adjustable, but then one of my new seats will stuck up front. Just means whoever the guest is, is sitting on an old seat while motoring. Also, I'm going to add a pedastal mount on the port side of the middle bench (currently both middle/rear are on STBD, good for hunting not for fishing).
    4. Trolling motor. Currently have an old foot controlled motor guide. It works, but I'm thinking one with built in sonar, wireless, maybe even all out I-pilot. Is this overkill though? Would I need to buy a GPS unit for the I-pilot? I'm not sure how it works?
    5. Sonar to connect to new trolling motor and mount up front (on new roomier deck).
    6. T-bars (4 holders each) for the front, and something for the back (I haven't figured this part out yet).

    7. New 30 HP motor (not really, the 15 will do... at least for a little while longer).

So, any thoughts, ideas, help, or criticism?
