Oh, yea, that's the way to start the day off right. Nice bunch of good sized fish and several good meals as well. Hope you guys get out again soon and boat a few more like that.
Went fishing the my best friend and his 10 year old son this morning. The boy is a real trooper. He always gets up really early with us and is on the water at first light and never a complaint. We went to one of our favorite ponds this morning, which has some really nice fish but, has bit us in the butt many times. Today was not one of those times.
I motored us out to the spot I found the Crappie last year at this time hoping they would be there again. It was a tad windy. Air temp was 41 degrees. Water temp was 56. We started trolling into the wind and doubled up almost immediately. We landed those and then my friend and his son doubled up. We were on them quick this morning. The next hour or so was pretty steady catching for all of us. Twilight, Bayou Booger, Monkey Milk, and junebug chartreuse all worked equally well. Straight tails landed more Crappie, curly tails landed a lot of largemouth bass.
The trolling motor fizzled out early with the windy conditions. We only fished for a little over 2 hours. But the cooler was packed full. We came home with 21 fish between us. All between 10 and 14 inches. Great morning of fall fishing.
