    Smile Medina Lake Crappie

I have a new bass Tracker and will be fishing Medina Lake. I fished it too many year ago, and wondering how the fishing is now a days. My son and I like to attempt to catch Large mouth bass, and we love to catch pan fish/crappie. Any help would be helpful. We live about 15 min from the lake in NW San Antonio. Thanks for any comments.

Hello, I have not caught a single crappie in that lake, but then again I have only fished it once. I did see likely areas for crappie though. I would think that with the cooler water temps now, that you could find some crappie around the docks. There are a few docks over fairly deep water which should hold some fish. They usually get a little more active and shallow this time of the year. Not like they do in the spring, but you should be able to find them somewhere in a cove.

I fish Medina Lake exclusivley and have for years. I have a place on Faurie Point in Lake Hills. (near goat hill camp) I fish for crappie and white bass. Crappie fishing is very good on Medina Lake. The best spot I've found is Cypress cove near Turk's Head. My fishing season is about to start again next weekend. SEE YOU THERE!

Do you have a lot of success fishing during the day time for the Medina crappie? Seems like I only have good success at night around Sawmill.

I fish mostly in the day time. Usually, by the time I get my boat in the water and get over to my hole, its about 9:00 am. I very rarely get to spend the night in my trailer and do any night fishing. But, when I get to fish at night, I do pretty good.

Default Fall Bite is on at Medina

A quick update on Medina Lake. The fall bite is definatly on. Last Sunday, later in the afternoon, around 4 or 5 pm I caught 6 nice ones in Cypress cove in 22 feet suspended about halfway down. They were gathered up pretty thick around the first big Cypress tree in the cove. I was using live minnows.
I'm looking forward to next weekend. I'm gonna try the early bite and see how that goes.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully I can get on the lake in the next couple of weeks. Will post a report when I do.

Last Sunday, the morning bite was slow, although I did get 3 nice ones. The water was a little murky in cypress cove so I moved over to Red Cove Marina and tried fishing the docks. The water there was gin clear but I didn't catch anything in the 45 minutes I had to spend there. Maybe it'll be better next week.

Still have not been able to get out there. Kids events and weddings to attend. Keep warm out there. I was fishing a bass tournament out there earlier in the year and it was 29 degrees out there but still did not stop my fishing partner from going 60 mph on the water
