Last time I fished TB was Mar 11 in the pm. Bite was extremely slow but would pull one out every now and then to keep it interesting. There are a lot of crappie in there but seeing what I have caught so far this year they average smaller size than other bodies of water produce. Caught 16 that afternoon of which 3 were keepers. Fished 4-5 ft deep with minners along the steep bank drop offs that have any structure on them. Did try jigs, but didn't even get a bite on bl/wt, rd/wt, or rd/chtrs so stuck with the minners. Water temp was 65-67 3-4 feet deep. Heard once the spawn is in full swing it gets hot and they said hot. Lots of boats there on the weekend as well. All this rain will probably mess up their location and movements. Hope this helps.

    Default Update on TB

A lil birdie told me that males were being caught in 12" with jigs (blu/wt) along the bank on Monday. Won't be long now. I'll be there this afternoon and have another report tomorrow. Anybody else fishing Turtle bayou?

Wednesday pm caught 17 keepers. Went back out Thursday am, only one keeper. Talked to several other boats who chimed in on the same story, "only a few in the livewell." Mostly males caught Wednesday in about 8-10" with minnows. Haven't been there since Thursday morning.

    Default Ttp

    Anybody fish TB lately?
I have been a couple of times, without much success. I always hear that phrase "shoulda been here yesterday" or "...last weekend" everytime I go.

    Default TB Update

Late report from TB. Tried it friday the 6th. Started fishing about 2:00. Not a lot of bites til later that afternoon. Caught 9 of which 3 were legal...barely pushing 10.5. All on minnows working the shallows 12".

Hooked some kinda monster while dippping the minnow. Whatever it was it made the ol' BnM 10 footer look like a rainbow. Never could fight it to the top to see what it was. Made that last run...you know the one you tense up on because you know what's about to happen...and snap there went my 10lb line and whatever was on the other end. Got the blood pumping faster than heidi klume...well you know:D. Had to be a cat or gar in my mind...or the next state or world record white crappie...maybe:rolleyes

Haven't been since then. Anybody else?

    Hey crappierascal,
sounds like fun those bnm poles float i have had some things on that were big to handle, so i just throw my pole in and follow it on the troll motor till the fish gives out. Never have lost a pole yet but do have a few back ups in case i did.
