Default Bait Shops near Granger Lake

Does any know of any Bait Shops Near Granger Lake? We will be coming down from Aledo (West of Ft Worth) on I-35. We need one that will be open around 5 AM since we would like to be on the water at sun up. Any tips on late summer Crappie fishing would be appreciated as well! We will be down on Fri. sept 2nd
    THANKS

There is an Exxon at 95 and 1331. It opens at 7 am. Last few times I have been there, fish turn on around 7:30 and start slowing down around 10:30. I only fish jigs on Granger. Recommend fishing brush piles in 8 to 10 ft of water. South side of lake is fished pretty hard because of natural wind barrier. Recommend middle of lake is possible. I launch at Fox Park. Gate opens at 6. $4 park charge. Think Friendship park is free, but can be trouble for some (me) on windy days. Fox has a cleaning station as well. Good luck.

Sometimes you gotta stop and smell the brisket.

Thanks fishfried, I had tried to PM you but I guess I have'nt figured it out yet? I saw the Exxon your talking about on Google Maps. I know it's not too much farther but I was hoping for somewhere on the Northside of the Lake? I used to fish all the time! And have had everything from a 1952 Sears V Hull w/ a Merc 9.9 to a 1995 ProCraft Bass Boat with a Merc 150 on it. And 3 others in between. After back surgery number 6 in 05 I got away from it for a while and sold the ProCraft. Realized how much I missed fishing in general and 4 weeks ago ordered a Tracker Pro 160 with the vinyl flooring instead of carpet and with the 40 Horse 4 Stroke. 1st Brand new boat for me! I have no problem using the jigs, but wanted to take some minnows because they are easier for my Wife to fish with. I wished they opened earlier? I like to be on the water just as the Eastern sky is starting to glow! Thanks for the advice about the middle of the Lake. This Boat came with a color sonar fish finder. Lowrance X3 I think? But I''m still not real proficient with it. I've played with it some while out on Lake Weatherford doing the "Break in" procedure on this new Mercury but I'm not confident in finding cover such as brush piles or fish suspended near them. Couple more questions for you and or anyone else reading this. What pound test line are you using, length of rod, size hook when using live bait etc? And where do the Crappie tend to move in October and November on this particular body of water?
And Once Again... THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP!

I use an 8' Pro Angler with 500 series spinning reel, 8 lb mono line. All jigs i fish have #4 sickle hook. You can still catch crappie on main lake in November, after that, crappie disappear. Granger is a tough winter lake.
