Crazy Charlie, where do you live now. Is the crappie fishin as good there? I know the spot you are talking about near the 59 bridge. Lots of other fisherman do also so it is usually crowded, but its a big river and the creeks coming off of the main lake have been pretty good.

Fellows, Crapppie are always somewhere. It's knowing where they are that isn't always easy. Right now I'm boatless, but I do have a tube and been fisihing creeks around Lavon in the DFW area. Yesterday I limited out on some Hawgs. Actually had the biggestr crappie I've ever seen up to the top of the water and as I reached out for it,(BOOM!) if flipped off and disappeared. Sick I tell ya. But I caught one over 2lbs on the next drop.

Find deep spots with a little cover and you should find fish.
Hey Wylie, were you catching those slabs on minners or jigs?

Minnow killer, I live in Melvin, Tx. now, right in the middle of Texas. Haven't had much luck yet, haven't found a fishing buddy yet. On the river between the bridge and the lake are many cuts that go off the main river most all have produced some good fish. Are you familiar with an area called "The Old Lakebed" from what I understand it was a lake before Lake Houston was flooded. now it is a big cut off the river. It's very shallow getting into it but once in it was about 10-15 ft. deep. we've pulled many fish out of there. wish I was still in Houston so we could hook up and get some.
    Good Luck,
    Charlie

I fished Lake Palestine for 25 years and did very well. I live close to Lake Tyler now and I am trying to learn a lake I have not fished in years. Wylie is right about the tx fishing forum. It is the ernest and guy show.

I am in Lufkin and will be planning on heading out to Sam Rayburn this weekend if I get my new trolling motor on the boat. Problem is I still have to buy it and decide on which one I guess it will be one that Academy sells for sure.
Weather looks like it will be nice so am planning on a late Saturday or Sunday trip.
Really need to get the boat on the water to see if it still runs from last year.
I heard they were catching some fish on the upper end of the lake so will put in at Etoil park and head south looking for some nice slabs.
Of course the license plate expired last month and still have to get my boat launch pass from the federal building in Lufkin well you know it never ends this fishin obsession. If I did not like it so much I could save a fortune and just go to catfish king for my fish fix and save a bundle, but you know the fish is free when you catch it yourself
Stay safe on the water and have a great day.

I havnt been out in acouple of weeks now. I hate this time of year when they leave the deep water. They scatter really bad, and get hard to catch. Besides my barge has been at the house getting all of the PMs done. I am putting it back in this weekend, look out crappie. I should have several areas loaded with fish in about a week. I will keep updated.
