Default Crappie in Fayette County Res???

Tried a new lake 1.5 hours from my home. Fayette County (just south of Brenham). Was with my bassin buds and caught many decent bass but was wondering all the while if there is good crappie fishing there. Couple spots looked pretty "fishy" for Springtime slabs. Anyone fish this lake? Gettin burned out on Conroe.

Never fished Fayette before so no help there. However, I totally understand the "burnt out" on Conroe comment.

I've been there three times in the past couple of weeks and I'm afraid the effects of no vegetation and low water for the past 2-3 years has finally taken it's toll on the crappie fishery in Lake Conroe. I thoroughly believe that there hasn't been a productive spawn on that lake since 2009. I say that because the last "short" fish I caught there was Feb 2011, and it was just under 10"!
Used to it was no problem to catch limits of good quality fish, now a very good day is 12, maybe 15, and work my butt off to get them! I was beginning to wonder if my jiggin skills had diminished, but after talking to a well known Conroe guide, I'm not the only one having problems.
Considering the traffic and road construction issues getting to Conroe from where I'm at, I can drive another 35-45 minutes and be on Rayburn. Not going to totally quit Conroe, yet, I'll go back this winter on some deep brush but if I'm still struggling to put a dozen fish in the boat under good colder water conditions I'll not drive over there again.

Sorry to hijack your thread, just had to complain.

Let me step in on this one about Fayette County Lake, it is a hummdinger of a fishery, but with all the attempts to get crappie started in the lake, the largemouth bass fishery has not given the stockings a single chance of taking a good foot-hold to be able to produce a crappie population within it. The bass population is great.

Sure wish the past stockings would have been productive.
