With the level of the lake and areas that are my 'go-to' spots are now either out of water or extremely shallow, plus no boat stall, no electricity to charge batteries and having to use the trolling motor to reach the main lake, decided to cancel my Toledo Bend trip and do a first, hit the coast and focus on speckled trout, redfish and flounder for a little over a week.
No boat stall rental, no worries about boat ramps or electricity, can't reach good fishing areas and saving on gas, overnight stay and food, but sure will miss the fresh East Texas air, pineywoods, the bird-life and great fishing Tbend holds.
Maybe we'll get lucky and have as much fun and good luck hitting some old reliable Galveston Bay and jetty spots that always paid off.
Dang, but I hate not getting to go to Toledo Bend and my nephew that was supposed to go with me last year graduating from HS couldn't make it because of work! It will be on the schedule for next spring for sure.
Hate to hear that. I am going for four days this weekend to the San Miguel area on the Louisiana side. I hope the water is fishable there or in the area. Are the crappie spawning?
