    Default Lookin' for a fishcamp

    Good Mornin' Texas.

My grandbabies now live in Dallas so it looks like I'll be spending alot more time in TX. I think it would be wise on my part to find a place close to the BigD to set up a fishcamp for the family to enjoy. My budget is small which is probably a deal killer but I still need to research what is or could be available so I can come up with some sort of a plan.

I would like to find a campground of sorts that has a yearly lot rent of $1500 or less. I do not have an RV or pull behind trailer so an existing trailer that can be bought on existing site would be good. A straight out purchase of a waterfront cabin or lot would be possible if it is way cheap. But cheap and Texas don't go together.

Thanks for any suggestions and comments.

That will be hard to find being out of town. Once you get here you might be able to find what you are looking for. Good luck.

Thanks A2O those are very helpful. I can't pull the trigger on any thing right away, but like I said I need to look and research. And oh yea, save more money.

Keep your eye on Dallas and East Texas Craigslist as well. You'd be suprised sometimes. Just search the Real Estate section for words like fishing and lake or cabin ect...

How about just investing in a nice family sized tent and some camping equipment, stay in public parks at different lakes. Hate to see someone invest money in a permanent place and find out later they're living among a bunch of scally-wags that all pooled their welfare checks and bought a cheap lake lot.

I can do a tent if I have to. But I'm 'bout over tent campin'. My goal is to find something I can leave the kids and grandkids when I go fishin' in the big pond.

Hope to go to the bigD this June. I will do some scoutin' around. My son-law's brother sells real estate, but I haven't even mentioned anything to them yet. You know the old cart ahead of the horse thing.

    Thanks again for your input.

I have rented a cabin at Redwood Lodge at Lake Whitney for this weekend. Will spend 3 days with the family for fathers day. Think I will rent a boat Sunday and go look for a cove to hang out in. I'm gonna take a pole or two but with 5 kids probably won't do any serious fishin', just fishin' with the kids. Which I'm looking forward to. With no fish finder I will be shootin' in the dark, but I'm sure we can find some crappies or blue gills for the kids to reel in.

If anyone would like to go put up some honey hole signs that say "Hey Chill, Fish Here!" that would be so awesome!:D

Hope to squeeze in some time to look around for fish camp possibilities. My son in laws like Whitney. They say it is real clean.

Not looking forward to the 14 hour drive but really excited to go to TX and see the babies!

That place is awesome. I know in the winter time there is a dock at Lakeside were you pay five dollars to fish. Lake is known for its striper fishing. Good luck and hope you enjoy you time there.
