Maybe try a different seasoning? I've heard soaking them in milk helps, but I've never tried it.
Most of the crappie I keep are caught during the winter and spring when the water is cooler. I haven't noticed any fishy taste.
I caught some fish last year around this time. They were full of shad, when i eat them i could still taste the shad. I put them on ice as soon as i got them in the boat, and soaked them when i cleaned them. Anyone have any sugg. on what i could try? Thanks
paddle faster i think i hear banjo music !!!!!

What did you soak them in?
Put a couple of teaspoons of lemon juice in the soaking water.

WACKEM AND STACKEM!
Seems like to me summer crappie always have a little fisher taste. They eat shad year around so I don't think its what they are eating that makes them taste that way. I think it has to do with water temps.
Get The Net
i eat them all year round and have not noticed a fishy taste to mine the meat is not quiet as firm as the winter crappie
Speck
Real men troll for crappie (Here Fishy Fishy !)
Soaking the fish in milk 4-5 hours before cooking should remove most of the fishy taste.
Also, when you remove the skin from fillets and notice any red meat, one should remove that red meat too. This applies to most fish, as the red meat has a strong fishy taste.
I agree w/ quicksilver....put some lemon juice in when you freeze them. I also do with with catfish and it greatly reduces the fighy taste.
