Question Please help me find some paddlefish

I am new to tennessee and love to snag for paddlefish. :DI live in the knoxville area. Any help finding populations of big paddlefish would be appreciated. I am going to try cherrokee lake. Season started there on the 1st. Is that my best bet or are there better places. Sorry for the off-topic thread, but I know you guys are always helpful and I didn't know how else to get good info. I would be willing to take anybody with me who may know of a good place to go. I have the equipment and the boat, just need to know where to go.

Have you thought about Ft Loudon or Tellico. I have had very good sucess on both these lakes. What side of knoxville do you live on?

Paddlefish, or spoonbill same thing. Fish with a long ass paddle protruding from its head. They are plankton eaters.

And for a totally ignorant question, What do you do with them when you catch them? I mean I've never seen one much less caught one.

You boil them for about 3 min, slice them in small strips lay em on the grill on top of some hickory chips for 2min. on each side sprinkle schredded cheese and lemon juice on them, throw the shovelbill away and eat the hickory chip:D:D Just joking. I did hear they were stacked up in the river on Cherokee around 40+lbs. You may check with TWRA about where 423-587-7037 region 4.

I just assumed he was talking about crappie!! Don't know anything about a paddlefish. Don't sound real plentiful. Maybe thats why they may be worth a few hundred bucks.

they are slick to clean, they have a "tube" for a spine, you can basically cut the head off, pull the tube out, skin and cook, the smaller ones we usually cook whole or of course you can fritter. I don't think they are nearly as good as channel and no where near as good as flathead. Belly meat baby!! But they are neat looking.
