If your catch rate was similar to your partner Gary's catch rate, does that indicate that your nanofil line was not any better than mono today? I am trying some nanofil myself and I am curious about your experiment.
Somebody forgot to tell the fish that crappie don’t bite in the summer time. Gary and I had a great 4 hours of fishing although from the 6:15 start, it was slow to almost nonexistent as the first three places were void of any fish activity. They were all prime summer structures along the drops on the main river channel.
Our first fish finally came on our fourth spot to try. Of course, this offshore structure had to be scanned, but we located the fish on the bottom in 25 feet of water just off a 13 foot drop off. Bites were extremely light and not for a novice fisherman. Fishermen that live for the thump would have gone home with empty stringers today.
Gary had a great day with perhaps the most caught, (it was close), and certainly the biggest (13.75) to nose out my (13.50”) biggest today. We had a 15 fish limit of crappie with anything under 11” being released to grow bigger. My old friend Steve 2jigs Rogers came upon us while we were fishing this structure. He is a bass fisherman and I hadn’t seen him in a few years. I just hope that he does not disclose this location to anyone, although it is a community bass structure.
Our lures were Bobby Garland Minnow Mind’Rs in Monkey Milk and Lightning Bug and then Baby Shads in Monkey Milk and Hologram Ghost with a chartreuse taillight. Fished mainly on 3/32 oz jigs. Very little current flow and was so little that it seemed to be eddy water on every productive spot. Gary was fishing with the minnow Mind’Rs and the bite stopped, so I told him that before we left this structure, we were going to change profiles and so Gary put on a baby Shad which is what I went to as well, and his first cast, he caught the biggest fish of the day.
We landed 4 or 5 more there before we moved to the fifth structure and we doubled on our first cast to this new spot. We doubled again about three minute later. It was getting hot by now as it was approaching 9:45, so I told Gary that I wanted to show him the spot where I sank the crappie hotel on Wednesday. It had a couple of fish on it and I caught a short there.
We had 13 keepers by this time and it was 10 am and we had a 15 minute run back downriver, so we decided to stop at spot number two and try to catch our last two fish to fill out a limit. I landed those in short order and off we went to Wolftever ramp. I drank 3 bottles of water while we were out. You have to stay hydrated on hot summer days.

Great report and size on those fish that rode home. I slept in this morning, had the day off, but looks like I should have gone to the lake.

Some guy's have all the fun...
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6drumking thanked you for this post
