Default Not too Crappie past couple days. Chickamauga 3-21/22-2020

Saturday was a struggle. I started out in the lower lake, by the time I finished checking areas and scouting I was up near Harrison Bay. Water temp has been 57 in the mornings and making it up to 62 in the coves and the creek. Water is stained to muddy. I have a difficult time when fish are transitioning. I can find fish in deeper water, but I have yet to locate them up shallow. Only caught 2 Saturday one short Crappie and one Sauger or possibly Walleye i'm guessing, he was in Paradise cove on the long point that stretches out at the entrance of the cove, never would have though that.
His new name is Jack, as in One Eyed. Sorry little fella.

He wasn't much bigger than a baby shad bait.

Today, Sunday was little better, I managed to put 6 good keepers in the livewell. Landed 14 in all just mostly shorts. I was trolling in 13 - 15 fow. I did manage one on a float n' fly it was in about 8 fow.

    Fishing in chocolate milk

I'm supposed to take a friend of mine out fishing for her Birthday this weekend. Hopefully I'll figure something out before then.

You did good! I had to eat humble pie yesterday on the crappie I was skunked so after a long day of battling few bites and 0 hooks ups and seeing quite a few fish tight to the brush so I switched up and caught some green fish!lol shame on me!

Thanks for the report. Saturday was tough fishing. I fished up in Wolfteever creek. I caught 4 fish in an hour and a half with one being a keeper.

We fished Tellico yesterday, and it was quite tough. If you enjoy being humbled, look up the East Tennessee Crappie Club’s results from Saturday on Watts Bar!

Fish are definitely transitioning, but just keep going shallow. We are supposed to hit 80 degrees by the weekend, they will go shallow!

Where are those results, I am not on Facebook. And I am not trying to hijack this thread, just curious.

YELLOW PERCH! Smaller cousin to the aforementioned toothy critters, but EVERY BIT as good eatin' if you can get them with some size. Used to catch them on Lake Erie as a kid, 12-13" long, by the trash-can full.

I'm like you, had tough times when the crappie came shallow...figured a few things out last year though. Find you a dark mud-bottomed slough on the North side of the lake, start in about 8' FOW and work your way up to as shallow as you can get...you'll find them staging/moving in some depth between there right now. I LOVE drifting with the wind, watching the bobbers and listening to the race on the radio.

...now if there could only be a race to listen to on the radio
