Thread: Night fishing Reelfoot Lake

WTC I live on Hwy 78. and it kills my sole when I head to town some mornings and there is a convoy of boats headed to the lake.

A friend of mine fished last night he spider rigged from dark till 11:00 and he said they caught 4 fish.

It was a full moon or almost full last night and I have noticed that on full moons I don't catch many cats. I always do better when it's pitch black and I wonder if Crappie are the same.

Fish bite better 3 days before to 3 days after a full moon. The full moons is the best itme to catch fish. If the baormetric pressure is high, or on a steady rise, then fish generally bite better than ever. I know folks that fish with alot of success on bigger lakes, but havent heard much about our lake.

Im just excited to think about a long hot day and then leaving out and giving myself an hour so to troll, then setting up at dusk and waiting for some action. I think if we try it enough we can figure it out.

I was going out tomorrow but it looks like I may have to wait till friday, which sucks! Anyway, you go tmy number so do me a favor and give me a shout when you get out there and let me know how your doin.

Bump..... as I am thinking about ngiht fishing. I wanted to get some more ideas about setup, rigging, etc. Also want to keep this thread alive so that when we get out there and try it we can help each other.

Also, I think it would be a real good idea for all of us to get together one night and everyone fish different spots. I think the same areas will most liekyl produce over and over again in the summer months. And we are much more likely not to try it much if we dont have success the first time or two. Anyway..............setups anyone? Someone who does it on the bigger reseviors?

Cracker, I haven't been at night since I last talked to you. I went Sat morning. Caught about 45-50 only kept 22 4 or 5 of those were barely 10". Get into a batch of small ones and would have to troll out of 'em. I may try it at night later this week or weekend. I wonder if the AP is turning on yet.

I think we are going this Friday night and try it, we haven't decided if we are going to troll or use floating lights. Come on up should be easy to find us .

The weather man called for Thunder storms Friday, but I don't think he has got a day even close in the last two months.

OK...the water and the weather are getting right. Who has tried the night fishing yet? I am about ready to give it a whirl.
