Good report! I need to scout more and fish less!
I have been wanting to fish with Paul for several years and today was the day. What I found out about Paul is that he loves to scout as much as I do and the fishing is secondary a lot of the time.
I did take Paul to the new crappie hotels that we put out on Monday morning just after daylight. Near the first one, I hooked a good fish and figured that it was the bass that it turned out to be. Alas, when the fish went airborne about 15 seconds into the fight, it threw the crappie jig back at me. Paul estimated it to be 4-5 lbs, but my guess is 3.5 lbs.
When I took Paul to the next hotel, he caught a couple of small crappie that had already checked in for the weekend. We gave them a free pass and invited them to stay with us next year.
Then we scouted a lot, stopping only to briefly fish in spots that had cover and fish. We caught a few in new spots that are now marked on my graph. Grin. Paul showed me a couple of cuts in the delta structure that I didn’t know about, but will definitely fish when I fish this area of the lake. The fish hit Chartreuse colored lures on 3/32 oz jig heads. Also caught fish on pearl color as well.
Paul and I will be fishing together more in the future.
Good report! I need to scout more and fish less!
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
Nice catch, I scouted a new place this evening myself, will report on it later. It has turned off hot again and they are pulling the plug on our water now, has dropped 2.5ft this last week.
