Default Nickajack Pointers for 2nd week of March?

Hey, fish heads' I'm planning a trip to Nickajack the 2nd weekend in March. Last time I was there for a couple days I 0'd. Just looking for some hints as to how the lake fishes this time of year. I'm expecting water temps in the low 50's so I'm guessing primary points and or ditches or creek channels leading into the possible spawning areas. Figured I would start there and move up or back out to the main lake. I will be fishing the area around Hales Bar Dam. PM me or post to the thread if you please.

    Thank You in advance.

Thanks Slab, I have searched for some reports and found about as many as I have found hen's teeth...

I grew up there and that lake is either feast or famine but there are some big crappie in that lake. Nickajack is more river than lake. It does not have big feeder creeks like Chickamauga or Guntersville. Marion county park area between old hwy 41 and I24 is sometimes productive that time of year. Locals call that the Brendaline after a restaurant that use to be there. Bennett lake and Mullins cove are also popular areas.

Thank You Coach! I need all the pointers I can get. I drive over the 24 bridge at times and see boats all along the ledges at times of the year. I just figured they were Crappie fishing. That's about all I know about Nickajack.

Unless your just absolutely dying to fish Nickajack, I would drive south another 40 minutes to scottsboro and fish Guntersville. Just my opinion, but fishing both for a large part of my life, you chances of success will be much greater fishing Guntersville. I can help you there also. Slab Prowler lives in Scottsboro and is a fine man. I'm sure he would help you also. I live on Weiss now but still fish Guntersville a lot. I would gladly meet you but have a crappie tournament that weekend.

Lebron...I know we'll have a few more cold snaps but water temperatures are already near 60 in spots on the "Chick".

We caught our best fish on bridge pilings on the entrance to Cave lake and also Running water bridge pilings. But, we were fishing post spawn. Pre spawn should be about the same I would say. Also, Interstate bridge pilings have yielded a few to us as well.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Coach, I don't necessarily have a itch to fish Nickajack. I have a couple nights at Hales Bar Resort I need to burn before they expire next month. Jeff, I was out last Saturday in the hurricane conditions on the Chick and I was finding 65 deg. in the creek, I caught 6 dinks and 2 keepers in about 6 hours. Thanks for the info DK, I will give those places a look. You know I need all the help I can get.
