    Default More Asian Carp Kill

There was a carp kill off several years ago. The kill was supposedly caused by air bubble disease. The final report is not posted or is still incomplete.

Nice info. I watched a show on history channel other night about carp.it's unreal what they do in a lake and also how they effect other fish. I knew I didn't like them but now I really really don't like em.

2015 I believe. Paul Rister, one of the Ky marine biologist attends the KY Shindigs. He keeps everyone informed about the Ky Lake carp activity and of course the crappie. He also does Qs and As. I ate some fried carp at the gathering. Tastes like fish to me.

We have 3 processing plants here in west KY that are shipping them to China as fast as they can process them. Problem is they aren't paying a price that is high enough to get most commercial netters interested in chasing them.

If you folks have questions concerning KY or Barkley lakes, go to the KY Forum and put a post there but put KY F&W in the title. Paul Rister is a regular contributor on there and he checks the forums several times a week. He is quick to give the biological angle on fisheries issues for the entire Tennessee River system.

I'd be curious to know how much the plants like Two Rivers Fisheries and the others are paying netters for their carp haul. I read an article about a processer on the Illinois river which paid $.25/lbs for bigheads, silvers, etc. how does this compare to buffalo, catfish, etc. Different everywhere I'm sure.
