good report dave! enjoyed it
Lynn and I went to our annual fishing trip to Tim's. Her sister Connie and her boyfriend Mario went with this year Arrived on the 13th am. Fishing started out good then got a little slow in the afternoon only to pick back up in the evening. We caught other fish this day but did not get pics of them. Some good catfish and smaller small mouths. I lost 3 good fish this day. Line broke. One was a real good small mouth about 4-5 pounds I am guessing as we seen it jump. The other was a big large mouth that came to the surface and shook its head at me and broke my line. The last one I never seen It just pulled and broke. Forgot I had my winter line on. 4lb test. Switched to 6lb that night. Figured drumking would like the pic of the drum if he looks at this post.
Day 2 my stepson Tim came with his girlfriend Jenny and grand daughter Marissa. As you can tell Marissa had a ball. She caught these small mouth in about 30 minutes. There were more pics but I lost them somewhere. I did not catch a thing during that stretch. Neither did Lynn. I did catch a good walleye early and Lynn caught A good crappie. We caught other fish that day but not picture worthy.
Day three My other grand daughter Kylie came to visit. The fishing was much slower this day in the afternoon when she got there. The fishing early was fairly good.Kylie did not have as much luck but she did get a good one. The wind got up pretty strong this day and made boat control hard in the afternoon not to mention the lake lice came out in hoards. Now if I could just teach these girls how to hold there own fish.
Day 4 we waited and had breakfast at the marina and it was pretty good but we did not get out on the water until about 9 am. Now the fishing had been good early and late in the day. The middle was a tough grind and made it hard to find fish. Also the wind was pretty rough this day We ended the trip with 1 good small mouth and a couple of smaller ones and a black perch or redeye as some people call them.
All in all we had a good time. The crappie were hard to pattern and we only found them on brush piles late in the day. When we went there the sonar was showing no fish in the morning but late afternoon they were there but spotty at best. The good crappie Lynn caught were in shallow water near shore. Just not a lot of them. 1 here 1 there. I would guess we caught about 12 in the 4 days there. We caught numbers of yellow bass and bluegill also. All fish were caught on minnow from 1-10 ft down some over 30 ft of water. Most all were released except the walleye, some crappie, yellow bass and catfish. Some black perch were also kept.
We had a tragedy in the family on Monday. Jenny's son Jeremy died in a training exercise on a helicopter in Maryland. Pleas keep them and all service members in your prayers.
