    Default Kentucky Lake report.....confused

Our family made a long weekend trip to Paris Landing, and drug the boat along. Anyone in TN knows that it was quite windy. Being on a lake that I don't know, plus dealing with the wind was a challenge. Anyway, we found fish. In fact I have never saw so many arches on my Lowrance. Sonar, SI, absolutely covered up! Plus, we caught em too! Lots of em! They ranged from 6" to 9.75", with the exception of one 10". This was not in just one location, but in several spots in the Paris Landing vicinity. My question: What is going on? I'm not brilliant, but I know if there are that many short fish, some big ones are somewhere. I tried moving to deeper water. Nothing, or more of the same. I talked to several people, and all were experiencing the same. Let's hear some opinions please. It is a pretty long haul for me, so I am not coming back every weekend to check it out. We had a great time, and the area is beautiful! Definitely enjoyed the relaxation and scenery! In about 2 years, WOW!

If a Lake has a successful spawn and survival rate for a year or two ...all those fish in that year class have to be somewhere, and you found a lot of them. Year classes of fish do not always spend much time together. Finding the year class schools of larger fish can be difficult sometimes. Especially if that year class of fish is down in population some as a percentage of the total fish. They also will not bite the same thing sometimes, they want a different bait or presentation. On the Tennessee and Cumberland river systems... sometimes those bigger fish will just hang on the ledges of the main and secondary river channels the biggest part of the time. Also just turn off and on.Sometimes the bigger ones bite and sometimes they don't. Had a couple guides tell me years ago if you're not finding them in the bays go find you some brush on a channel ledge. Reservoir fish can be tricky.

Makes sense. I tried a lot of different spots, especially scanning. I don't always catch the biggest crappie, but I have most always been able to find some keeper sizes.? I fish the TN river lakes at home, and I understand what you are saying. In this case, I was just stumped!

When did you take that picture? My wife and I were walking around the marina about 4:00 Sunday afternoon.

I had to look at my phone to see! It was Friday morning. That is a beautiful marina, actually the entire area is beautiful. We left Sunday morning, and fished a couple hours Sunday at daylight. As we were coming back under the bridge, a couple of people scattered someone's ashes from the bridge. A beautiful setting, but if I hadn't slowed down, the ashes would have traveled to East TN!
