Having a good stump finder on your boat...LOL Great fishing but I never seen so many stumps... Be careful boating this lake.. A guide would be money well spent.
I will be going down to Reelfoot next Friday and Saturday. This will be my first time there. Staying at Blue Bank. Any tips or info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

Rob, if you are fishing for crappie, slow trolling the lower Basin is probably your best bet. I say that from a chair in Ohio though. We go down once a year in April. If you can afford it, take a guide. Blue Bank has plenty of guides. To make my long post longer, I will finish with this....
Unless you are taking your own boat and it is set up for spider rigging, you are probably going to have a tough time. If you are renting a boat from Blue Bank, you are going to have a rougher time. This is all coming from experience on an annual trip for about 10 yrs
Luckily I live 40 minutes from Reelfoot and from looking at the weather Friday could be a possible day to fish if I didn't have a couple of meetings scheduled. Looking at Saturday's weather, I would definitely find something else to do. As being relatively new to crappie fishing, I have been able to catch a decent number spider rigging with 8 poles in the last 3 or 4 months. I hear some folks can catch fish single pole jigging in the north end but they know exactly where to go! If you aren't bringing your own boat and it is set up for spider rigging, I strongly suggest a guide for Friday.
The fish are biting at reelfoot. I got out saturday for the first time this year after duck season and caught 27 in 5 hours. if you are not spider rigging, you are going to struggle.
