I would go in late Mar early till mid April Mar you seem to catch the bigger fish but in April you seem to catch more .I like Eagles Nest myself. Nice people a good clean place they put on a heck of a cook out in season and the price is fair .I really like their boats as they have padded swivel seats in them some places do and some don't and I'm here to tell you the old posterior really hurts at the end of the day if you don't have them. I see you said you were bringing your boat I leave mine at home and use theirs you're not going to need a big motor there and theirs already know where all the stumps are

I wouldn't wait for spawn, as soon as duck season is over I'd be on my way. We have been having a ball over there. Don't worry about your boat, I've bounced mine off of everything over there, did tear the trolling motor slam off one day, but hey thats minor for the fun you can have. The Reelfoot Lake Inn is a motel that is reasonably priced and has hook ups, and it right across from Bo's Landing.

To be truthfull, I fish yearround here in the Camden/Big Sandy area, I'm going up there trying to get one of the wall hangers I have been hearing about. As for carring my boat, I weigh 400# and most boats arent set up for comfort for a big man...

Some of my biggest fish have come in January. You can catch all you need from January to January at the Foot you just have to know where to go.

But March & April they will be a little more frisky

The rentals will do the job, but they are bare bones. I don't know if you can rent a trolling motor or not. Most places have a slot in the boat shed so you can park and charge your batteries.

And most of all if your fishing for crappie leave the casting rods at the house....bring a couple of jig poles or trolling rods. Only thing you will need a casting rod for is bass, bream, or catfish. but you will catch those while your fishing for crappie.
